My clock proposal for ABT events for 2009 and beyond

I'd like to see 15 seconds delay become the standard rather than 12 seconds. Probably my second biggest complaint is weak shaking of the dice. The shorter time delay may cause players to feel rushed and not give the dice the adequate shake they deserve. I actually think 2/15 is a very good setting that is a good compromise between giving adequate time to think in crucial spots while still discouraging ridiculously slow play. I wouldn't mind seeing it permanent. I doubt it if it would scare more than a very very small number of players away.
We should be careful about lowering it. The lower the settings the go, the more players will be scared off. And is one year enough? Many players only go to a small number of ABT events in a year.
But of the choice between 2/12 and 1.5/15 I think I'd prefer 1.5/15 for reasons stated above. Especially if we'll get that extra 30 second boost from rounding up which all odd-point match lengths will get.
I'd prefer to just see matches being lost if they're flagged, it can prevent some kinds of gamesmanship that Bob Koca mentioned in a previous post. For example, I saw a match in Baltimore where player A is losing at 11-away, 10-away with the cube on 16. Why not just wait the clock out and take two penalty points. Quite a difference!!
