The increase in losing chance is also extremely small. Note the following:
i) 61, 51, 41 would blot after either play. If you get that you are actually better off having taken 4 men off.
ii) With 6 men already off and opponent's 4 point board with 3 checkers buried you are still a decent favorite after getting hit.
iii) There is really no long term danger. If you get two small numbers next turn taking even more men off the opponent would probably be running then anyways. If he doesn't run it means his board will probably crunch even more.
