I don't differ about the play, since I agree and moreover admit to being "naughty" not to have got over here to vote. But the reason you give doesn't wash, since that other blot only matters if you fan. With the blot there, we have a monster cube which at the score I think you have to pass, though for money I'd take. Without the blot, even at the score the double would be pretty weak, though IMHO we'd be justified in throwing it out there anyway.

Here's a case to try: Instead of lifting the blot, try covering it with one of your spares from the 8 point. Now you have both the 15 and the mid, and the run becomes much more dangerous for us. I ran a Q&D 1-ply rollout for that, and making the ace point came out ahead by .058. (This number need not be memorized.)
