Great problem. White is going to give up the midpoint this turn or next. If he waits, he suffers a loss on 4-1 & 5-1 and a large loss on 6-1 next. So, there is some motivation to surrender the point now. The key to the problem appears to be whether or not in the absence of the white midpoint blue will leave an indirect shot with a roll like 6-2 next turn. If he wouldn't leave a shot anyway, then give up the midpoint this turn. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what blue will do. I will guess that blue would not leave the shot with his 22 pip racing lead and hence clearing the midpoint now is best.

I can't wait to see the rollout on this one.
