Those timeouts to ponder a decision always amuse me for several reasons. First, didn't they think about those situations beforehand. Secondly if it is close just make one decision or the other and it will usually be wrong by no less than the value of the timeout. Third, with the extra time the correct decision is made only about 50% of the time anyways.
