I actually don't mind the 9th place idea..noting it is actually 8th place and not needed if the field is 56 or less since then 2 can join 6 for LC. I am sick and a dog here and need to lie down soon. I'll try to lay out the LC flow tomorrow for 56 where no drawing to get 9 down to 8 in LC is needed.

There is no BS associated with a random drawing of 1 out of 9 players. Said player gets 2.5% rather than 1.19% for the others who play for 9.5%.

I hate late round byes and Chuck's unique solution handles it quite well.

Paying 4 in conso and 4 in the main and 1 in LC is too much dilution for a 64 player event IMHO.

There have been some interesting ideas presented here concerning tourney formats.

1) My proposal to make WI Labor Day 100% Swiss with no conso and giving prizes to those 8-3 or better while those 9-2 or better after 11 rounds play down to win the event (last guy with less than 3 losses)

2) Ideas presented by myself and others for handling 48 players playing down to 3 players and fair and equitable settlement of the 3 man RR. There are conso and LC issues to be worked out however.

3) Chuck's well presented ideas for a typical 64 player T with scheduled start times and no byes anywhere if exactly 64 players. Note to Chuck..make the entire LC all 7 pts (more thought from me)
