I like your idea of giving 2.5% to the one of the nine players who doesn't get to continue on for the LC win lots better than this which results in 7 players in the LC and pays too many places IMHO.

You could have the two conso semi loser play a match to determine who is the 8th in the LC, but that really screws them, and also adds another round to the event..ie no time for that.

Taking one of 9 players out by random drawing is MUCH better and again note that when there are 56 or fewer players you'll have a LC bracket that plays down to 6 and then the two conso semi losers feed in with no issues. (I'll lay that out when I feel better to be sure)
