Ideas such as holding a lottery for (and paying) 9th place LC or redistributing the loot so that the lucky bye recipient isn't monetarily rewarded for his luck are things that don't tend to get much consideration by the establishment. How often will you have your full 64 player field? A bye in the first round of the main is worth about the same as a bye into the final 4 of the LC, actually a little more if payouts are 62%, 30%, 8%. So to be consistent would those byes be negatively compensated also?
