Not obvious.
Three types of plays available: A) Making the 2 point 6/2 3/2 B) Clearing a point cleanly, 10/9 10/6 or 8/7 8/4 C) The clever clearing a point leaving a blot, for more flexibility if not hit, and chances to pick up either the homeboard blot or the runner if hit
I think we're neither desperate enough nor good enough to try the clever play, often the board blot doesn't stay - and when it does often we don't hit it anyway. On the downside, being on bar reduces our chances to profitably hit the blot left behind in our board - so I rule out the C options.
I feel that A) is also a bit better than B) even if it removes a builder. We have many builders as it is with all our outside points, hitting 1's next turn can be used profitably to remake the 3. Also if white does not bolt our numbers play werr, with small numbers able to break a point into 2 builders, whereas a big number allows us to break while remaking the 3 pt. Last plus for 6/2 3/2 - I don't have to decide between 10/9 10/6 and 8/7 8/4
