Don't you just pop out and play safely from the 18-point? You are leading in the race, you are leading in the score, your board is not as good as his, why take chances? If he doesn't clean up on the next turn you may have chances to smite him boldly and with purpose.
My alternative play would be to unstack by hitting on the deuce, but this notion makes me feel queasy. His chances of anchoring on the 4 are actually greater after this play; he may come in behind you on the ace; your only big gain is when he dances 4 times out of 36..
