I only believe it's a 'contender' as you put it because there simply are no other plays. Bar/23 is forced since I'm so limited on aces that I have to play. People tend to get worried about blocking their sixes to escape when they move up to the 23 point, and sometimes they should, here I don't think I'll have any problem waiting for a good time to hope. More importantly however is your spare on the ace point, which makes blocking it in more appealing. Lastly, if I move up you certainly cover & attack or POH a decent amount of times, if I hang back for a turn I won't help in your development.
