Yes, I agree. I was making the point that a player should double, but if you think it is a take and you know your opponent is going to take it because he is a strong player then you can choose NOT to double that player. Arkady was an unknown quantity to me, and I felt it was close or no double. I doubled him to find out what to expect from him later, though based on his reputation I thought he would take. It took him a while, but he took. Then I had a reference point for later in the match.

Maybe I was wrong and it was a definite redouble, in which case my feeling about the position was wrong. In general I advocate doubling or redoubling this type of position, but there are those against whom I would wait unless the circumstances were a little different. I like to choose my battles.
