Magriel's safe/bold criteria suggest the safer 8/2 but this position could be one of the exceptions where you do the opposite of what his criteria suggest. 8/2 leaves the minimum 11 shots while slotting the bar leaves 23 shots. But most of these additional 12 hitting rolls play pretty well for White if you play 8/2 with the 6 so the extra loss from being hit with one of these isn't huge. If you play 8/2 and White rolls one of these 12 numbers that would hit if you had played 13/7, how do you like your game? Not so good I think since there's a big danger of your lone back checker getting primed or attacked. That's not to say that there's no loss from being hit of course. Being hit will mean you will go from being a dog in the game to an even bigger dog. Do the gains on the 13 misses outweigh the loss from being hit? It looks close, but I think they do. I would try 13/7 with the 6.
