How about gnu's reasoning on this one

Just looking at Gnubg's evaluation, and factoring in Gnubg's difficulty in evaluating (and playing) positions in which it has to build a containing prime butt-backwards (although here, particularly, it's the evaluation that should be questioned, since Gnubg should have little difficulty in making a five point board in a couple of rolls) the position is very unlikely to be too good.
Looking more at the position, Blue's awkward without the 5 point and he's an underdog to make it on the roll. I think White has enough ways to win to make this a take, but with less than 100% certainty on the take, I'd double now too.
With the 3-3, if Blue's going to leave a blot now when White isn't quite (!) ready, I like 8/5(2) 7/4(2) better than 8/5(3) 7/4, leaving 15 shots instead of 21. But I'd simply play 11/5(2) now and bull in from there.
Gnubg's "no double" evaluation of 1.003 this roll gives no clue as to what the bot will be doing with the cube next roll. That may be a problem for interpreting rollouts of the cube decision and for the 3-3 play with a centered cube.
