42 is easier to play in the opening ?

If you have the 4, 3, and 2 you are supposed to rip. Very few additional blot numbers if any.

Here, if you don't rip you blot with 62, 52, 42, 32, 21, and maybe 22, for 10-11. If you do rip you blot with 65, 64, 63, 54, 53, 43 for 12, plus on aces: 61, 51, 41, 31 for 8 more, and maybe 21 for 10 more. So call it ~8-9 additional blot numbers.

Ripping one leaves you odd (4 rolls), ripping two leaves you even (3 rolls). You probably miss once but not twice here, which would argue for the odd safe play. However a gammon is big at the score. And more checkers off = more gammons.

I'd rip two at this score, not sure about money.
