This game is still pretty loseable with his perfect board. There is quite a bit to gain by going for the gammon, winning the match outright and gaining something like 40% extra equity.

However taking two men off now increases your risk of shot leaving numbers considerably. Almost all aces and 6 high number combos leave shots, instead of single deuces.

He has 6 LONG crossovers just to reach his inner board with both checkers, then another one to bear a checker off.

I am guessing that all these factors point towards safety more than aggressivness. I would play:

4/2, 2 off, minimizing shot potential. Gammon chances are pretty good if I don't get hit, and this play will tend to both decrease and DELAY the eventual shots. Losing this game is almost as big of a disaster as not winning a gammon.

I am interested in the gammon price calculations becuase I never really do those OTB, I just guess.
