Hmm. I have a strong feeling that it increases it. I have to win the event, have Neil not cash at all and I think not have coolrey get 2nd or 1rst in conso. I have a greater chance of losing the first round but anything which gives a negative correlation between between my success and Neil's helps me and what could do that more than a head to head matchup. Beyond the negative correlation also don't neglect that Neil also has an above average opponent making his chance of cashing lower.

A similar situation would be suppose team A is 2 games behind B with 5 to play. Would A rather have a shot at taking out B themselves by playing them 5 times meaning every win catches a full game or rather have each team plays random teams?

For the backgammon situation does anyone have a simulator? Chuck?
