says nothing about rounding. Therefore, I contend that the calculation MUST be done exactly. The display of the standings rounded to two decimal places is only for convenience.
I do not accept the contention that Ted Williams would have had a .400 batting average in 1941 if he had sat out the last day. His average would have been .399554 (to six decimal places). That is not hitting .400.
