Stick's opening rolls for 6-4 say make the 2 point. Does all the top players in the game always make the 2 point for money or match (scores)?

No, I know at least one guy who runs with an opening 6-4.

I was told making the 2 point is good when you need gammon. Otherwise splitting is better.

You were misinformed here, the three plays are about equal as Stick's rollout shows, except running which is a .0003 blunder. I usually prefer splitting but will make the two point or run depending on the match score, my opponent, and which way the wind is blowing.
