Opening 21 @ Gammon Save

Looks like the slot may be correct at Gammon Save, but that the split is correct at Backgammon Save (1-away 3-away Crawford). But with numbers this close, I'm slotting anyway. Its just more fun.
What is interesting to me is that the gammon losses are nearly identical with both splitting and slotting. But if you think about it, making your 5 point will help protect against gammons when the slot works, and when it doesn't it will generally be easier to make an advanced anchor with the third man back, with the option of holding the ace point anchor. Apparently these factors exactly compensate for the gammon risk of getting a checker sent back. Probably, if not for the minor disaster of dancing with boxes, the slot would have less gammon risk.
