Analysis of the Qa5 dragon

I didn't like to play standard methods as White against the French Defense, so I would usually play a King's Indian reversed, as Fischer used to do when he was young.
One time I was Black and someone, who clearly wanted to avoid book lines in favor of very nonstandard stuff, tried 1) a4: then ... Nf6 2) b4 (I expected g3 and Bg2 intending to push the a-Pawn) a5 3) b5 c5 4) c4 e6 5) Nc3 d5 6) e3 d4 7) ed cd 8) Ne2 Bc5 9) Nf3 e5 10) Ne5? d3 11) Nf4 Bf2+ etc.
The a5 - c5 idea is adapted from Pachman who advocated 1) ... a5 in response to 1) b4. White might better have tried 6) d4, maybe preceded by Nf3, instead of 6) e3 allowing Black to gain space.
