"It's possible that Blue could miss by rolling a few low 3s, but it's unlikely so it can be discarded"

Exact one sided database gives 3.4% chance of needing 6 rolls. 3.4% (8pips) = .27 pips.

The missing doubles will probably persist 2 or 3 rolls and save .6 EPC per.
