I am a little concerned about entering a $500 Masters event against excellent opponents and playing with a clock for the first time. I would be pissed if I timed out. I generally play quickly but take some time on difficult plays and cube turns ----- and I might not realize how much time I am using on a difficult decision.

Anybody that plays reasonably fast should NEVER time out, and I mean never.

Your advice about a practice match is a good one. What about if the clock is on my left (I am right handed) --- will this slow me down? Any other advice is appreciated.

I imagine it could for some people, but this has never mattered to me. I can whack it on either side. :)
