Hmm. I said to myself, well a N-roll position is really talking about a bunch of checkers on the 3 point or lower with no likely misses and doubles working. Here we've got 2 on the 4 point instead of the 3 point. So I added 2 pips and got 38. That is probably flawed logic, but I wonder how far off from a reliable method it really is?

If I conjectured that a bottom heavy bearoff had an EPC of 7N+1 plus the number of pips required to move all higher checkers to the 3 point, how far off would that be from reality?
