Don't mind me. I was just in a feisty mood (Stick seems to bring that out in most of us!!).

The 3-6 prime is so big when you have checkers behind it. (Three and maybe soon four.) I said "almost equal" primes but really that's overstating. Blue's prime is solid (better) and it's all in the homeboard (better) so putting the two together, Blue's prime is considerably better.

However, being on the bar (even against a three point board) is big, too. So we have to weigh these offsetting factors.

The battle here seems to be for Blue's barpoint. If White gets it, Blue will be sorry the cube is on White's side. But if Blue gets it White will be in a world of hurt. This is reflected in your observation that the volatility is high.
