He put me on a semi bluff. Even on a semi bluff though he should let it go. Since I didn't raise him on the flop, which most ppl do immediately when they have any pair on that sort of board, he doesn't figure I have a pair. The spade hits and he's banking on me being on a spade draw. When a spade doesn't fall he talked himself into a king being good enough of the time to make the call. [btw, I'm not defending his play, more like rationalizing it to the best of my abilities]
