MCG -- Where is that clock/delay horror story?

I played all my masters matches with a clock as it was clock preference. Masters started on Thursday at 2:00 PM, Doubles started on Thursday at 7:00 PM, the main event started on Friday. I played my first 3 rounds on Thursday vs. Ray, Rich, and Omar, and made the semifinals. They announced that doubles was closed while I was playing Rich, but I learned that they decided to reopen it when there was interest enough for 32 teams.
I entered the doubles on Friday morning, played my first round vs. Ed O'Laughlin (clocked), won that, played the next two (unclocked), lost both and was knocked out of the main. I think I played one doubles match on Friday as well. I was still way ahead of the bracket in the masters, the QFs in my side of the bracket hadn't even been determined yet.
Saturday I am out of the main and there are still 2 rounds before I get an opp in the masters, so I basically sit around all day. I got in a doubles match or two, but spent most of the day waiting for the rest of the drawsheet to catch up in both the doubles and the masters. Falafel & Stepan make the QFs in the masters but don't play until after the dinner break on Saturday.
Now, looking at the drawsheets at around 10PM on Saturday night, the masters is a round behind, the doubles is apparently 1-2 rounds behind, Falafel is alive in three events (the masters, doubles, and main), and I am still waiting for opponents in both the doubles and masters...lol.
The fact that one guy is alive in three events, two of which are a round or two behind, should probably be a warning sign. I believe that initially they weren't going to clock the matches played on Saturday after the dinner break because it was clocks optional and both players (or all 4 in doubles) had to agree to play with a clock...are you kidding? But I think that was straightened out and at least the rounds after the dinner break on Saturday were clocked (mine were), but by then it was already a huge scheduling problem. Rich has to play doubles vs. Falafel, the winner of that has to play another doubles round that night, I have to play doubles that night @1AM, plus I have to play the semis @ 10AM on Sunday vs. Falafel (note that I haven't played a round here since Thursday), and then Falafel has a 12PM final in the main and if he wins the masters he also has a final in the masters and the possibility for a final in the doubles if he gets 2 wins there...
Falafel lost in the doubles at least. I went back to my room to catch an hour's rest before they finally called me back to play at 1AM. I finish my doubles match @ 3AM, I ask Rich how his doubles match went, he replies "it hasn't started yet." I think Rich was there until 1AM every night and had to play Saturday at 3AM, but I'll let him fill in that story if he wants as I don't want to get the details wrong.
Anyway, I have a lot of fun playing doubles, but it's very often more trouble than it's worth. If TDs are worried about losing players, consider that I'm seriously considering never playing doubles again unless it's clock mandatory, or on Sunday like Pat's tournament. I'm not sure how I got so far ahead of the bracket in the masters but I suspect that opting for a clock in every round was at least part of it.
Anyway, ugh. I wish I had been able to play more on Saturday, or if not, at least be able to go into Manhattan for the day instead of waiting around to see which opponents were ready to play.
