Unbelieveable. Everyone opposed to the use of clocks and/or everyone turning down a player's request to use a clock should be forced to read Rich's experience. I think this sort of thing is far more damaging to the game than a few players put off by having to use a clock.

Hopefully, Howard will be at Jeb's tourney this weekend, as he was last year, and I intend to graciously express my opinion to him and all others. It is rapidly approaching Stick's. I certainly will continue an abstinence from doubles (Denver last fall withstanding) and I will not go to any tournament where at least one of the Masters and Open tourneys is not clocked. Preference will be given to tourney where both are clocked.

Friends, remember NYC was a 4-day event !!! Think about the traditionally larger field in Pittsburgh for a weekend tourney. The Flint field is traditionally larger but it is on a 4-day weekend and doubles will be clocked. Madison is on a 4-day weekend and, despite the Swiss format scheduling, is subject to such delays. The Midwest at least uses clocks in the Crystal Beaver but it, too, is a weekend event. We have to do something.
