One of Howard's comments about permitting clocks on demand was that it is a real problem to force someone that has never played with a clock before to "lose their virginity" in the first round of an ABT Open tournament. There is something to be said for that.

I propose that all of us who have clocks and are proponents of clock use offer to play 3 point matches with players who have never had the experience. Perhaps an announcement could be made during the Calcutta, and these exhibition matches could be played in that idle period when nobody has anything to do after the Calcutta finishes and before the draw sheets are posted. Let people see that it is just not a big deal. Do this at every event. Like the free one week membership to the gym to suck people in.

We players need to be leaders and take it to the masses. Hopefully the directors will follow.
