"As I understand it there was a redraw of the 32 remaining players who were left after dinner. I trust that drawsheet was ready to go and posted by 8 PM so players could start right away. One would assume that the buybacks had to play down to 32 prior to leaving for dinner."

There was not a cap on the buybacks. If you won your initial match or your buyback you were on to the next round. This meant that there were 34 players to restart play again at 8pm with a fresh draw.
