going for the backgammon?

In Response To: going for the backgammon? (aoleg1)

From GNU's eval, it seems clear that the gammons and backgammons nicely offset one another and the difference is in the single game wins. The biggest swing factor is the disaster 21 roll after taking 4 off.

As for trusting GNU, I don't use it and can't comment on its skills in playing white here. However, after taking 2 off and then leaving a shot with an ace that is hit, if white manages to prime and contain, he will then want to try to jar a second checker loose. Does GNU actively work toward this goal, or does GNU quickly seek the closeout?
