going for the backgammon?

My opinion is that GNU has a bad estimate of CHANCES TO HIT a second checker. If a position comes to this variant GNU tries to hit and contain 2nd checker but there are problems with plays. I analysed with GNU a such kind of game (see http://www.bgonline.org/forums/webbbs_config.pl?noframes;read=32418) but I was dissappointed: a play from 14th place at 2-ply becomes 1st at 3-ply, another play becomes 1st at 4-ply, sometimes 0-ply filter drops strong plays e t.c. Moreover it is usual that there is some difference in estimates at 2-ply, 3-ply and 4-ply, but if this difference is around 0,5 it means that GNU is completely confused. Which kind of rollouts do you propose? May be Snowie is better in those positions? Of course, for practical purposes we can make a usual 2-ply rollout and suppose that a real human opponent will play worse than 2-ply GNU (but may be better?)
