Consulting doubles should take longer, and I agree that the discussion is part of the enjoyment of the event. But I'm sure we've all sat across the board from two players endlessly discussing the merits of a play that they agree on from the start, or how to decide between two essentially identical plays that likely have an equity difference of zero that in singles, you'd just quickly pick one. Just make the frickin play and lift the dice, or discuss all you want on the clock. My point was that doubles is by far the event most likely to go beyond reasonable in slowness of play, and when it does, it drags the most players along for the ride. If you have to pick exactly one event to clock and are allowed to clock no others, this is the one. (IMHO)
