The 3 points landing spot will have to go very soon so keeping it for one more turn buys little in clearing numbers.

On the other hand, the play creates many spares, wastes nothing for the race (6/4 5/4 and 5/3 4/3 do) and spares the trouble of finding the best shuffling moves in the inner board.
