Score based 54D-44 vs Stick

I would play 24-16*, 13-9(2). Playing for an undoubled gammon is far more likely at this score than at a balanced score. Facing 8-away, Neil isn't going to double-in with any kind of gammon risk in the air. Neil's gammon price with the cube centered should be relatively close to Stick's gammon price with the cubed turned. Gammons are not a one way threat. So, I would be willing to play strong in the opening on a good roll like this.

The opening play is also interesting. 54D is a clear choice at GG of course. Is the price of gammons high enough to justify 54D at this score? I'll play 54S, but would guess it is very close. I have planned on doing some short rollouts at 3a2a to test choices like this at mixed scores. That should shed a little bit of light on the question.
