In Response To: Clocks in Charlotte (Dan Pelton)

I played 6 matches in the main, all clocked of course and there was no objection from anyone and some opps were allready waiting for me with their clocks ready.

Only in my match vs MCG was the clock a factor. I had a lot of tough plays early on and used a good ammount of time. During the later half of the match, I cut short my thinking on a couple of plays by about 30 seconds. I think Matt also had to play a couple moves a bit faster than he wanted to and he was down to less than a minute left for much of the DMP game if I recall, while I finished the match with over 3 min left. Had we played unclocked, I guess the match would have taken at least 15 minutes longer, which would have slowed the event I fear.

The most interesting thing was Dave Wetzell's 2nd round opp and they were right next to me. Dave was insisting on using his clock, and the opp who's recently returned to BG after a 13 year hiatus had no clock experience, and they played a few practice moves and the opp then requested to please play unclocked, and stated that he's not a slow player. I finished my match in maybe just under an hour and then took a break and when I came back a while later, wandered the room checking out other matches, anyhow, from across the room and at least 75 minutes after my match had finished Dave and his opp were still playing, but I did note that it soon ended. Dave certainly wasn't the slow player here as in his SF match vs me, he was no where near time pressure.

.. neilkaz ..hoping clocks are MANDITORY in 2010 in Champ events.
