Looks to me like you've got the 1-2 pretty well timed with the 5th man back and the gap on the 21 point. Extracting the spare seems most important and shifting to the 2-4 backgame will leave the spare on the ace point. Gammons dont matter here, so staying back on 1-2 is not as bad as usual. The goal is to get a shot and have a board when it comes and 1-2 looks to me like it will maximize both.
