I take two off. If he misses I'm that much further ahead and have more options next roll. If he hits there is still his disastrous 2-1 possibility and, otherwise, I have a checker(s) recirculating to contain his one checker and to exhaust all possibilities in securing a second and, perhaps, a third checker.
