I have no problem whatsoever with the current playoff format and seeding. Division winners deserve to get in. They deserve a home game. What is your legitimate claim to being the best team in the sport if you can't even claim to be the best team in your division? If you're so much better as a Wild Card team than your weak-division opponent then you'll win on the road. A certain team from Pittsburgh did this a few years ago. A certain team from New York did this last year.

If you've essentially wrapped up your division halfway through the year, like Arizona did this year (that sounds strange to my ears), then you can decide whether you're going to put it in cruise control or play hard and risk injuries for a better seed. Although I doubt if they intentionally did this. They are a slightly above average team in an awful division in a mediocre conference that got hot at the right time.

The strength of particular divisions and conferences is cyclical. Relax. Unless you are a Detroit Lions fan, your team will eventually get its chance.
