You said you preferred making both anchors, 24/21(2) 23/20(2) instead of making the 10pt along with the best anchor. As is often the case with doubles, it's not that your play is that bad, it's just that it isn't as good as the best play.
The best play gives you both a blocking and landing point in the outfield working directly against your opponent's already made 21pt anchor. It also puts the midpoint spares to good use. It's not as crucial to unload the midpoint as in normal bg because there are only 4 checkers there instead of 5, but still, if they make a good point as they do here, there's no reason not to use them.
Once you've made the golden anchor the other anchor is really superfluous. You are in no danger of being primed or attacked and your checkers off the 24pt should be able to move easily, being blocked only on fives. You will want to move them soon of course, because all your other checkers are dedicated to good spots, but you aren't hindered in doing so so it can wait.
In summation, make the balanced play. Making both anchors works on one aspect of the board, only defense, in a position where you don't need to play defensively. The more balanced play works on both offense and defense and leaves you with a more fluid position.
