Maybe true, but you can backwards induce from the recube. Clearly there are some positions that either side prefers. E.g. leader will cube in a race, but doesn't want to cube in a mutually gammonish prime vs. prime where the cube immediately comes back to 4 and he risks losing 8. Since the leader prefers certain types of positions and the trailer prefers other types of positions this can influence checker play (early & otherwise).

Anyway, I play 24/20 23/20, although I'd probably hit at an even score.
