I agree with your backwards induce comment. The question is how much weight to give it. (How much game equity are you going to sacrifice in attempt to gain match equity?) Until the cube / gammon combination gets to eight, all points are used well by both sides. Even at eight, all points can be used. There's no overage until you get to sixteen. Perhaps the impact is bigger than I think. But it is difficult to know with confidence unless you trust the MET out to 17. G11 has a discontinuity at 12 and is not to be trusted that far out. I'm working on a new MET, but have a long way to go before I can handle this problem.
