In spite of what can go wrong for blue here, there's a lot that can go right, and some of it immediately. And the race is pretty reasonable, and there are multiple ways to win. So I'm taking. Normally in holding game situations I'd feel that white needs to clear the fifth checker from the mid before cubing. Here however, there is enough junk that blue can roll (6s are particularly bad) to lose the market, and while white has a bunch of shot leaving numbers, hitting that shot if it is even correct could blow up in white's face big time. So white wins more than usual and will get a fair share of gammons in the process. So in the end, much as it looks like no double, in fact I'm not at all comfortable with the take. So it is a must double. And practically speaking, I suspect there are many more chances for blue to misplay the position going forward than white. So I could easily imagine playing this into a pass if it is not one already.
