I'll second Bob's assertion that it is a good time control and give him all the credit for coming up with the idea and the timings.

I had two extra edges in our session. One was the extra equity I got for the assumption that I'm not an idiot. Two was that I was getting advice from Sam throughout the session.

In true UBKish fashion, in our last game of the first set we played about a gazillion moves with 4 seconds of reserve time for each of us left in a complicated, volatile, gamonnish position. Fortunately Sam and I wound up on the right side of that game.

I recommend anybody who is a proponent of clocks for matches to give this a try for money play as well. It was fun.
