Time warning for digital clocks

Consider that the warning bell alerts BOTH players that one player's time is low. Maybe I am running out of time and it alerts my opp to that fact. Maybe my opp is running out of time and I didn't notice...

Would I want a kibitzer to speak up and say "hey, your flag is about to fall" or "hey, why aren't you calling opp's flag"? Um, no, I can't foresee an instance where that would be acceptable tournament procedure. So why do I want a clock to do it?

I can understand that people want to get acclimated to clocks but it just seems to me like it shouldn't be on--also this could be precedent for the future.
