Time warning for digital clocks

I have heard the sound many times. It is just a beep. Not very loud either, it could possibly go unnoticed in a loud room. I am in favor of it but I see the counterarguments and wouldn;t mind too much either way. If used I think 10 seconds is better than 1 minute though. It should be used to prevent a timeout and that is what is would do for someone who spaced. If it beeped after 1 minute someone might start thinking for 20 seconds or so on a play and then lose track of the time and the 20 seconds becomes a timeout.
In my match with Jim Pascoe we played many games and it came down to DMP. I had about 50 seconds to start the game and he had about 80 seconds. He was playing at a smart pace but then he took about 40 seconds on two consecutive plays that were not really complicated and where little equity was at stake. Something like how to play his checkers behind my holding game point or which outfield point to leave a spare on when there was still plenty of time (in the number of rolls sense) left to clear his midpoint.
There is all this talk about how people might freak out and could be in drastic trouble if the time goes below 10 seconds. I recommend just trying it out once to see what it is like. You wouldn't want your first time with that situation to be in a big tournament.
