I like what Bill Davis has done to try and accommodate the demand for the Crystal Beaver. It used to be that the first 16 to sign up were in and everyone else after that was wait-listed. Now, over a few years, we've reached the first 12 in at the $600 level, 8 more at the $300 level, and a wait-list after that. Doubtlessly, maybe next year, he could go to 8 at the $600 level and 16 at the $300 level. Maybe he could eventually just go to just 32 entries at $300, or higher. Certainly with rebuys I think this is totally feasible. Patrick has had success in getting 32 in this manner. Some of the smaller tournaments, Charlotte as one example I'm familiar with, has only gotten to a 24 bracket and goes to 3 finalists with an equitable playoff -- I don't like that. But with the popularity of the Midwest Championships I think Bill could easily fill a 32 bracket, particularly with rebuys. Hopefully it will move in that direction. As it is now you had to register 2+ months in advance to be assured of getting into the Crystal Beaver.
