Time warning for digital clocks

I don't see how this is a good idea. As far as I'm concerned the clock is a timekeeping device. It's your responsibility as a player to call the opp's flag and to manage your time, not the clock's.
The myth is that the inexperienced player will fall down to a minute without realizing it, hear the warning beep, and either begin managing his time perfectly for the rest of the match or else get completely flustered and blow it all in three moves. The reality is that it probably doesn't make much of a difference, rarely comes up anyway, and when it does a warning beep isn't going to change much.
David: For a thirty second byoyomi, there is one warning beep after 10 seconds, another after 20 seconds and a third noise which is heard continuously for the final five seconds. This is a serious warning which allows the player to focus on the board, not the clock, in a time crunch.
I just don't see this. I have to imagine that this would seriously annoy me and make it difficult for me to focus on the board...I'm OK with one warning beep far in advance, but a continuous one for five seconds? That sounds Ew with a capital E.
I don't know, maybe I am showing my bias as a chess player and not a shogi player. I can see how I could be in the minority here but it just makes good sense to me.
