Time warning for digital clocks

In Response To: Time warning for digital clocks (Chuck Bower)

I had set my clock to a 30 second warning once I figured out how to set it.

I think 10 seconds is too little. If I'm down to 30 seconds I'm playing on the buffer for the rest of the match. But I've got some time for a few sets of cocked dice or for a really tough match swinging play.

I think the idea of the warning screwing with someone's equity is preposterous. Is the goal of clocks in backgammon to allow someone to win on time? Or is it to ensure a reasonable pace of play. I think the latter. If someone is incapable of speeding up then the beep won't matter, but for the rest of us, we pick up the pace. Mission accomplished.
