Idiot's Guide to Cheating Online

Does the technology yet exist to take a screenshot of whatever appears when the player "loses focus", which I presume means switch windows? That could be important if you want to avoid "catching" people who were only checking the progress of an ongoing rollout, or running a 3-ply of the game or match they just played to see how they did on the tough decision in Game 3 at Move 14. I've done the latter with the opponent's knowledge and cooperation ("take a few seconds with your move so I can import and start") because he or she is often interested too, or wants to know about the cube decision at Move 19. If I have had a long wait for a tournament match to start, you will also find me with a window open to the New York Times, and I'll be switching back and forth until I finish the article.
Where I would worry most about being cheated would be a big-money online tournament. In that situation, you can't just pick up your money clip and go home, the way you can if you suspect someone may be cheating you in a series of games. In the tourney, you have paid an entry fee, and so will want to finish even if one or more of your later round opponents appear to be bot-assisted. I'm not blaming the servers for not catching them all, since a) the cheaters might play honestly all week long, then fire up the bot just for the big-money event, b) they can avoid detection by overruling the bot on a close decision here and there, since that will lead to less than 100% correspondence of their play to a bot's, and c) if they have their bot on a second computer, and they're using a somewhat obscure bot such as JellyFish Level 6 instead of 7, it's going to be very hard to figure it out no matter how much time and effort the server expends.
